Research and Information Technology Department

Duties

The Research and Information Technology Department is mainly responsible for conducting research and formulating proposals in the area of labour; providing legal and technical support; coordinating the Bureau’s information technology system and equipment; and monitoring the execution of the International Labour Organization conventions applicable to the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Labour Inspection Department

Duties

The Labour Inspection Department is mainly responsible for conducting inspections and developing awareness-raising activities in the area of labour relations and working conditions, and initiating legal proceedings on infringements in that area, handling licensing applications of employment agencies and conducting inspections on the agencies, as well as monitoring the operation of the bank account as specified in the Administrative Regulation No 26/2008.

Occupational Safety and Health Department

Duties

The Occupational Safety and Health Department is mainly responsible for conducting inspections, research and awareness-raising activities in the area of occupational safety and health, and initiating legal proceedings on infringements in that area; and ensuring the establishing of accreditation standards in the field of occupational safety and health and the issuing of accreditation certificates.

Employment Department

Duties

The Employment Department is mainly responsible for providing job referral and job counselling services to protect Macao residents’ right to employment; promoting and assisting Macao residents in planning their career development; cooperating with vocational training bodies to promote career advancement or horizontal mobility of Macao residents; and studying, developing, planning and improving employment services and measures that help to promote the employment of Macao residents.

Vocational Training Department

Duties

The Vocational Training Department is mainly responsible for organizing training courses and activities in line with the needs and development of the labour market to enhance the qualification of the local workforce, so as to promote career advancement or horizontal mobility of Macao residents; cooperating with other public services and private entities in the field of vocational training to optimize the resources in that field; and strengthening exchange and cooperation with other regions to introduce and set a system for vocational skills certificates.

Duties

The Non-resident Workers Employment Department is mainly responsible for conducting research, planning and formulating proposals on the policies of hiring non-resident workers, and assessing the effectiveness in their implementation; and executing the laws and regulations related to the employment of non-resident workers and the labour field, and formulating proposals in accordance with the needs of the labour market and the economic sectors.
